The Happy Child Guide

5 Facts You MUST Understand if You Are Ever Going to Stop
Your Child's Defiance,Tantrums and Out-Of-Control Misbehavior...

1.  Many so-called "discipline methods" are actually cleverly disguised forms of punishments and rewards that can cause your child to suffer the lifelong consequences of having a lower sense of self-confidence... yet the parenting marketing industry continues to lie to you so they can maximize their profits by selling you watered-down versions of lashing kids with belts.

2.  Disciplining methods such as rewards, consequences, and manipulation are actually the LEAST effective method of getting your child to listen and cooperate. We'll explore what types of methods REALLY work in a minute.

3.  Sitting your child down for a painful "talking to" or forcing your child to take "responsibility" are NOT the best way to stop misbehavior and unleash the genius inside your child... I'll tell you the exact types of unique child discipline that produce 10x better results below.

4.  You DON'T need to waste your money on expensive child psychiatrists or doctors who push expensive pharmaceutical drugs to help control your child's behavior. These drugs can have serious consequences and they never address the real problem that causes the misbehavior.

Because if these methods did work, children wouldn't misbehave like they do.  And as you're probably aware of by now... Your child's behavior is not going to magically disappear on it's own!  In fact, it's only going to get worse with time (that's why teenage drug problems are such an issue now)... . Again, you'll learn some of the secrets of parenting well-behaved and smart kids and what really works below.

Dealing With Temper Tantrums in your Toddler, Baby or Child

Behavior problems are something all parents across the globe have to deal with. Many children exhibit aggressive or violent behavior and temper tantrums. Tantrums, biting, kicking, screaming, and hair-pulling, are all behaviors that are increasingly popping up in children.

There are so many causes for tantrums and similar aggressive behavior and so many different tactics parents use to stop these behavior problems.

Children are not naturally poorly behaved. If a child is acting out, having a tantrum and having aggressive behavior problems, there are many underlying reasons for this. Behavior problems in children typically stem from stress, unhappiness, as well as a slew of psychological reasons. Children throw tantrums because they usually need their parents' attention and affection, and also because there is a physiological need for the body to work through the stress and adrenaline build-up that comes from stress.

Tantrums can often have a healing effect on excessive stress.
Contrary to what most parents think, the issue really isn't about the candy or toy that your child is throwing a tantrum about.

This misbehavior is usually a sign that there are other various stresses in their lives.   In the Happy Child Guide, it's recommended to keep focussing on the underlying reasons for the tantrum or other misbehavior and not to get involved in arguing with the child about  why they are upset (candy, toy, etc).

Here are some of the most common underlying needs and causes that are really behind a toddler's tantrums. The same goes for babies to children. All of the below can be causes for these outbursts and out-of-control freak out sessions.·

Diet: Diet may be one of the main causes for children to throw tantrums and have behavior problems. If your child frequently throws tantrums, it may be because of elevated sugar levels. Children who eat a lot of sugar are often more hyper, moody and can have surprising energy ups and downs... as all parents know when they see their child react to too much sugar intake.
Poor diet can not only be the cause of hyperactivity, misbehavior, metdowns, temper tantrums, raging, and attention deficit, children who eat a lot of junk and an unhealth diet are prone to also have mood-swings, irritability and overall crankiness. By eliminated sugar from your tempter tantrum throwing child's diet, you can cut out a lot of the tantrums. Even giving them too much juice can be a source of excessive fructose in their diet, raising their blood sugar.

Exercise: One thing that is continuously wonderous about children is that their energy is continously strong, as long as they are healthy. Children are like energizer bunnies in general, but children and toddlers who exhibit behavior problems and tantrum throwing issues, may actually be indicated that the need more physical outlets through good exercise.

The risk today is to have the child sit too much in front of the TV and not run around enough. We don't even keep a TV in the house... instead we just tell our child and his friends to play nicely together. And they amuse themselves. The best part is that when you turn off the TV, then kids will eventually start running, jumping and playing. And if you don't want them jumping on the furniture, then your child needs to be taken outside, or to park. Or anywhere that your child can explore their physical potential freely and in a safe way. This can help your children exert some of that tantrum energy in a productive way. ·

Sleep: Cranky kids who don't get enough sleep will stay cranky, whining and test your patience to the max. unless you begin making sure they start getting enough sleep. Other than a nap, children from ages 1-7 should be getting 12-14 hours of sleep per night. After that, 10 hours a night is the norm. Studies also show that children who normally have behavioral problems are also tough to put to bed. So ignore the tantrum, be consistent, and eventually, sleeping more will improve your child's mood. ·

Television: All kids are mesmerized by television. Just as their parents usually are. The problem with television is that it usually exposes your child to a lot of inappropriate ideas that can lead to misbehavior. If you watch a lot of the kids shows, you'll see that much of the programming is showing child-like heros who either fight a stronger enemy or rebel against an authority. In fact some cartoons and children shows even show child characters defying their parents. And is it any wonder that the child who watches this will try out these same behaviors?

The natural response for a child who observes something is to act out what they see. That's why you'll often see and hopefully laugh at how your child is imitating you. And sometimes it can actually be quite shocking to see your child pretend to talk on the telephone and repeat the words that he/she heard from conversations you've had on the telephone.

Some parents see for the first time just how impacted your children are from the behavior they observe in you. In fact, your children will become a mix of their parents and all the other influences in their lives.
Children are like open vessels. They absorb, learn and act out all that they absorb and learn. Many children's television shows have a lot of violence in them. And parents cannot possibly know what their children are watching every step of the way. Limit their time in front of the television and set them to more productive and creative play. Activities such as coloring might also teach your children a new and creative way to stimulate your child's creativity, expression and hand and eye coordination. This is a alternative to TV. ·

Set an example: Do you often lose your patience? Do you sometimes yell at the children or other household members? What your children see you do they will copy. If you raise your voice, so will they. Whatever behavior problems you have, your children will pick up.·
Respect your children: This seems like common sense. However, many parents lose their patience when their child routinely engages in throwing tantrums, defying, or ignoring you, or showing many other behavior problems.. When you treat your child like a troublemaker, they will act like one. So make sure you don't react to their misbehavior from a place of impatience, and disrespect yourself.
